Smart Technologies for Glycemic Control in Elderly Patients with Diabetes

Diabetes is one of the most common chronic diseases among elderly populations worldwide. As people age, managing diabetes becomes more complex due to multiple illnesses, polypharmacy, cognitive decline, and higher risk of hypoglycemia. Poor glycemic control in older adults increases the risk of cardiovascular disease, kidney failure, vision loss, disability, and mortality.

Smart technologies and artificial intelligence are increasingly being used to improve diabetes care. These tools support continuous monitoring, safer treatment decisions, and improved self-management, making them highly relevant to gerontology health and public health.
